CLAYTON, MO — After playing nothing but road games all this month, the Washington University baseball team made a triumphant return to Kelly Field, when it defeated Eureka College, 12-2, in an eight-inning run-rule game on Wednesday.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved WashU’s overall record this season to 18-13. Eureka has lost six games in a row and is now 8-21 on the season.

WashU scored runs in every inning but the fourth, and had a big lead throughout the game.
Six WashU players had at least two hits, led by second baseman Colter Couillard-Rodak, who had three hits, two RBIs, and scored two runs. The grad student from Lafayette, Colo. had two doubles and a triple and also drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt.
Ryan Soong, Noah Reichman, Carson Cleage, Will Taigen, and Anthony Equale all had two hits in the game. Cleage had three RBIs, while Equale joined Couillard with two.
Reichman drove in Soong with the first run of the game, on a single in the bottom of the first inning. Couillard-Rodak scored the second run on a balk by the Eureka pitcher in the second.
The big inning was the third, when WashU scored four runs on six hits to put the Bears up 6-0. Eureka got two runs in the top of the fifth, but WashU answered with a run of its own in the bottom half, then added two more runs in the sixth and seventh, before closing out the game with a final run in the eighth.

Junior pitcher Miles Quemuel-Labrador (4-0) came in in relief to get the win. It was his team-leading fourth win of the season.
The Bears will remain at home the rest of the week and host a four-game UAA conference series at Kelly Field against Brandeis College.
The games will be on Friday (single game — 3 pm), Saturday (doubleheader — 12 pm/3pm), and Sunday (single game — 11 am).
