CLAYTON, MO — The No. 8 Washington University women’s volleyball team hosted the second of three University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin tournaments on Sunday and the Bears passed that test with flying colors.
WashU played two quality opponents in Brandeis and No. 23 New York University and the Bears won both matches by matching scores of three sets to one.
The Bears, who have now won five matches in a row and 17 of their last 19, are 18-4 on the season, which is tied with the University of Chicago for the most wins of any team in the UAA this season.

Jasmine Sells had a match-high 18 kills, Leah Oyewole had 12 kills, and Zoe Foster had 11 kills and six blocks to lead WashU to its first win on Sunday.
The Bears won the first two sets with aggressive play at the net, sparked by setter Sam Buckley’s 39 assists. The visiting Judges won Set 3, before WashU put the match away in Set 4.

In the second match of the day, the Bears won with defense, as Sells posted 21 digs to go along with 10 kills. Teammates Elise Gilroy and Ellie Laird added 17 digs and 14 digs, respectively.
Foster led the scoring attack with 11 kills and four blocks. Buckley had 41 assists and 10 digs of her own.
The Bears will get a few days off before returning to action on Wednesday, October 16, with a home match against Rose-Hulman. First serve at the WashU Field House that evening is slated for 7 p.m.
