CLAYTON, MO — The No. 2-ranked Washington University women’s soccer team won the 2023 UAA league championship, Saturday afternoon after tying the University of Chicago, 0-0, in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The Bears conclude the regular season with a 14-1-2 overall record and a 4-1-2 mark in UAA play, which clinched the program its 16th league title and eighth in the last nine seasons. By winning the conference championship, WashU also earns the UAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, which will begin next weekend.

WashU will officially find out its destination for the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament, when it is announced Monday afternoon.

WashU controlled the offensive end for the much of the game, registering 12 shots with four on goal compared to Chicago’s four with two on goal.

The Bears had one of their best chances in the final five minutes of the first half. Senior Tyler Wilson put a ball on-frame in the 41st minute following a shuffle in front the goal, but it was saved by goalkeeper Sophie Pilarski.

Senior goalkeeper Sidney Conner made two saves on the day for her 14th shutout of the season. She stopped her first shot of the day in the 19th minute on a Kaitlyn Gomez shot and came up with another save in the 57th minute, again on a shot from Gomez.

The 2023 NCAA DIII women’s soccer selection show and bracket release will stream live on NCAA.com at 12:30 p.m., on Monday. The first and second rounds will take place November 10-12.
