The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its football players of hthe week on Tuesday.
Washington University running back Fred Ware was among those honored. The junior from Carrollton, Texas, had a career-best day last Saturday in WashU’s win over Carthage.
Ware carried the ball 16 times for a career-high 221 yards and scored two touchdowns. It was the first 200-yard game of Ware’s career and for his efforts, the 5-foot-8, 197-pounder was selected CCIW Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Other CCIW Players of the Week this week were:
Co-Offense: Ben Bonga, Wheaton, Senior (Brentwood, Tenn.)
Bonga became just the seventh player in Division III this season to have four touchdown catches in a game in Wheaton’s 42-21 win over Illinois Wesleyan at McCully Stadium. Bonga, now a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in 2024, finished the game with eight receptions for 160 yards. Two of his scoring plays in the second half were from 51 yards out.
Defense: Jaydin Miller, North Park, Fifth Year (South Bend, Ind.)
Miller joined Bonga as two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honorees after 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and a critical second-half interception to help the Vikings overcome Carroll for a 30-26 win in Chicago.
Less than a minute remained in the fourth quarter when Miller’s interception thwarted what could have been a go-ahead drive for the visitors. He also had a forced fumble in the victory.
Special Teams: Matthew Swink, Carroll, Sophomore (Chandler, Ariz.)
Swink made four field goals for Carroll in Saturday’s contest at North Park. The performance marked the most field goals made by a CCIW player this season and just the fourth player to make at least four kicks in a Division III game this fall. Swink also converted a pair of extra-point attempts.
