ST. LOUIS, MO — No. 12-ranked Saint Louis University and visiting Kansas City played to a 0-0 draw, in a weather-shortened game, Thursday night at Hermann Stadium in the 2024 NCAA women’s soccer season opener for both clubs.
The game was stopped and delayed in the 58th minute due to lightning in the area. Play was stopped for more than an hour before it resumed.
Unfortunately, the teams were only able to play into the 72nd minute — two minutes past the requirement for an official game — before the lightning began again and forced the officials to stop the game for good.
During play, Saint Louis outshot Kansas City 12-3, with five of its shots being on goal to none for KC. The Billikens also had 16 corner kicks, while the Roos had none.
SLU will be back in action next Thursday, when it will host No. 3 BYU in a match at Hermann Stadium.
