STARKVILLE, MS — The No. 23-ranked University of Missouri football team will play its final true road game of the 2024 regular season Saturday afternoon, when it travels to Starkvegas for a Southeastern Conference matchup against Mississippi State.

Kickoff at Davis Wade Stadium is set for 3:15 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.

Saturday’s matchup will be just the fifth all-time meeting between Missouri and Mississippi State, with the series currently tied 2-2. The Bulldogs are riding a two-game winning streak over the Tigers, including a 51-32 victory during the teams’ last meeting in 2020. The last Mizzou win over Mississippi State was a 47-30 triumph in Columbia in 1984.

Missouri enters Saturday’s game in search of its first victory over Mississippi State as SEC foes; the Tigers claimed the first two meetings in the series but have dropped both of their conference matchups with the Bulldogs since joining the league in 2012.

Head coach Eliah Drinkwitz notched his 35th win at Mizzou with the Tigers’ November 9 victory over Oklahoma; he needs two more victories to match Dan Devine’s program record for wins through the first five seasons of a Mizzou head coaching tenure.

Mizzou’s defense ranks among the nation’s best in several statistical categories, including first downs allowed (7th), 3rd down percentage (7th), total defense (18th), passing yards allowed (19th) and scoring defense (25th).

Players to Watch: The Mizzou offense looked more like its true self last week, when injured backfield mates Brady Cook and Nate Noel returned to the lineup.

QB Cook completed 21-of-31 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown in his first start since injuring his knee and wrist in the Tigers’ loss at Alabama on October 26. Noel also hadn’t played a full game in nearly a month, but carried the ball 27 times for 150 yards and a touchdown last week at South Carolina.

Wideouts Luther Burden III and Theo Wease, Jr., also figure to be big contributors for the Tigers. Last week, the duo combined for 14 catches for 154 yards, which included Burden’s dramatic fourth-down touchdown catch that gave Mizzou its late lead against the Gamecocks.

On defense, LBs Corey Flagg and Triston Newson combined for 17 tackles (12 solo) and two quarterback hurries, while DE Johnny Walker, Jr., had a sack in his fourth straight game for the Tigers.

MSU is led by RB Davon Booth, one of 20 seniors that will be honored by the Bulldogs before the game. Booth leads MSU in all-purpose yardage (1,002), including 597 rushing yards, 124 receiving yards, and 281 yards on kick returns.

WR Kevin Coleman, a native St. Louisan who went to St. Mary’s High and played at Jackson State and Louisville before transferring to MSU this season, leads the Bulldogs with 62 catches, which ranks fifth in the SEC and 19th overall nationally.

LB Isaac Smith leads the SEC with 101 tackles this season.

Up Next: Mizzou will be back in Columbia for its home finale next week, when the Tigers will host the annual Battle Line Rivalry game against Arkansas. The Razorbacks (5-5) host Louisiana Tech this weekend and may come to town next week needing a win to become bowl eligible.
