COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri men’s basketball team’s last three games have been pretty fun and pretty similar.

The Tigers have started the first few minutes a bit slow, but then quickly found their rhythm, on their way to flat out blowing their opponents out the gym.

Missouri did that 10 days ago when it beat Mississippi Valley State by a school-record 72 points. Then did it again two days ago, when Mizzou knocked off Pacific by 35 points. And it continued on Sunday, when the Tigers pounded Arkansas-Pine Bluff by the tune of 112-63, for the program’s fifth straight win, after losing its season opener to Memphis back on November 4.

Junior wingman Mark Mitchell led the Tigers with 20 points. Grad student teammate Caleb Grill added 14 points, including four three-pointers, and senior Tamar Bates put up 13 points, which included a thunderous dunk in the second half that brought the entire arena to its feet.

Another of Mizzou’s big contributors was sophomore point guard Anthony Robinson, who had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Newcomer Marques Warrick and sophomore Trent Pierce both added nine points, as the Tigers had 13 different players score in the game.

The teams traded punches early, as Mizzou held a one-point lead through the first eight minutes before the Tigers took full control of the contest.

A pair of Mizzou putbacks and a 3-pointer by Grill gave Mizzou a 24-16 advantage.

Mizzou continued to extend its lead with a three-point play from Mitchell and another Grill 3-pointer before Bates and Robinson contributed fast-break layups to help the Tigers extend their lead.

From there, Mizzou used a stifling defense to build a large cushion. Allowing just seven points in the final 9:02 of the first half, the Tigers took a 27-point lead into the break. Overall, Mizzou held the Lions to just one basket over the final 13 minutes of the period, while forcing eight turnovers, en route to the 52-25 advantage.

Mizzou carried its momentum into the second half with a 17-2 run that gave it a 69-27 lead, highlighted by a pair of dunks by Mitchell and Bates. The Tigers’ lead reached as many as 50 before cruising to a 112-63 victory.

Mizzou (5-1) will play one game this week, before the players head home to spend Thanksgiving with their families. The Tigers will host Lindenwood on Wednesday.

Tip off at Mizzou Arena is set for 5:30 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
