ST. LOUIS, MO — After struggling through the early part of the season, the Saint Louis University women’s softball team has been blue-hot throughout the month of April.
Saint Louis swept its home series against George Mason this weekend and now own a season-best 10-game winning streak. The Billikens haven’t lost a game since April 1 and haven’t lost a home game since March 11.
SLU is now 25-19 on the season and holds sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings. The Billikens are 14-5 in league play and find themselves on the verge of claiming their second regular-season league title in the last three seasons, after winning the championship in 2023.

During its recent run, Saint Louis has been led — as it has been all season — by junior catcher (and sometime first baseman and sometime designated hitter) Abby Mallo.
The SLU slugger from Oak Lawn, Ill., has been named A-10 Player of the Week three times this season, after cranking 14 home runs and adding 55 runs batted in this season.
Both numbers are tops for the Billiken squad this season, as are her 49 total hits, 11 doubles, .353 batting average, and .754 slugging percentage.
Teammate Natalie Sullivan, a senior outfielder, is also having a fine year. She’s batting .338, with 44 hits, including seven doubles, four triples, and three home runs, and she leads Saint Louis with 41 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.

Senior Taylor Hochman leads the Billiken pitching staff. She has a 13-6 record this season, with a 2.22 ERA, 13 complete games and six shutouts.
Freshman Scout Gallagher has been a two-way standout for Saint Louis. She’s second on the team with six home runs and 27 RBIs, and has a 1-0 record in four appearances in the pitching circle. Gallagher’s main duties have been at the plate this season, but coaches expect she’ll see more time doing both hitting and pitching in future seasons with the Billikens.
Saint Louis’s next game will come Wednesday, April 23, when the Billikens travel across town to St. Charles to take on Lindenwood. That game at the Lou Brock Sports Complex is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
SLU’s final set of home games will come next weekend, when it will host a three-game series against St. Bonaventure. Games 1 and 2 of that series will be on Saturday, April 26 at noon and 2 p.m. Then the finale and final home game of the year will be on Sunday, April 27, at noon.
