KANSAS CITY, MO — Saint Louis University scored just 39 seconds into the game and never looked back in a dominant 4-0 victory over Kansas City, in its 2025 season opener, Thursday night at the Durwood Soccer Stadium.
Junior Izzy Luebbert assisted on each of SLU’s first three goals and four different Billiken players scored goals to lead the club to its first victory of the new season.
Saint Louis controlled the action from start to finish, as it posted 15 shots on goal, while host KC had just one.
Redshirt sophomore Lucie Schwartz converted a corner kick from Luebbert for the first goal. Fellow sophomore Emily Fox scored in the 32nd minute on another corner kick from Luebbert to make the score 2-0.

After halftime, junior Rylee Howard slammed home SLU’s third corner kick goal in the 59th minute.
A third sophomore, forward Audrey Smith scored in the 84th minute to close out the night.
Goalkeepers Emma Parker and Nimu Karani played the first half and second half, respectively, for a combined shutout, with Parker credited with the win. Karani stopped Kansas City’s only shot on goal.

The Billikens will be back in action and back on the road next Thursday, August 21, when they’ll travel to Pennsylvania to take on No. 14-ranked national power, Penn State.
SLU’s home opener will come on Sunday, August 24, when the Billikens host Missouri.
