ST. CHARLES, MO — After traveling on the road for three straight games, the Lindenwood University football team will host its first home game of the 2025 season on Saturday.

Lindenwood will take on Stony Brook University in a non-conference matchup at Hunter Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Lions are coming off a thrilling 35-28 comeback victory over Charleston Southern in the first Ohio Valley Conference-Big South Football Association game of the year for both clubs. CSU led 21-0 early in the second quarter, but Lindenwood answered with five straight touchdowns to go ahead 35-21 midway through the fourth quarter.

CSU responded with a touchdown of its own to get back to 35-28 and got the ball back with a chance to tie, but Lindenwood’s defense stopped CSU to give the ball back to its own offense and the Lions ran out the clock to win the game.

It was Lindenwood’s first win of this season and the program’s largest comeback since the Lions trailed Truman State 24-7, but rallied to win 28-24 back in 2019.

Players to Watch: The comeback was led by quarterback Nate Glantz who accounted for four touchdowns, three rushing and one passing. Glantz became the first Lindenwood quarterback since Cade Brister in 2022 with three touchdowns via the ground and one through the air.

The Elkhorn, Neb., native ranks 11th in the FCS with four rushing touchdowns so far this season. His favorite target through the air was Jalen Smith who ended the game with a career best six catches for 96 yards.

Jared Rhodes and Rico Bond were responsible for the other Lindenwood touchdowns. For Bond, it was his second time in the endzone in as many weeks. Rhodes finished the day with a career-high 16 carries and now leads the team in rushing yards with 111 through the first three games of the year.

Defensively, Lindenwood forced multiple turnovers for the second-straight game. Sam Owens picked up his first-career interception and the offensive drive was turned into points by the Lions. Jacob Waller posted a career-high 17 tackles, including 13 solo stops and as a result he was named the OVC-Big South Defensive Player of the Week.

Stony Brook is led by dual-threat quarterback Chris Zellous. Last week, the 6-3, 225-pound grad student threw three touchdown passes and ran for another in the Seawolves’ 41-17 win over Fordham.

SBU receivers MarQeese Dietz and Jayce Freeman both had big days as well. Dietz caught six passes for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Freeman caught three passes for 47 yards, but scored two touchdowns.

Running back Roland Dempster rushed for 94 yards on 18 carries last week. He is third in the Colonial Athletic Association with 310 rushing yards this season.

Up Next: The Lions will be back on the road next week, with a non-conference game, next Saturday, September 27, against Miami of Ohio. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
