ST. CHARLES, MO — The Lindenwood University football team will return to Hunter Stadium for its second home game of the season on Saturday, with a key OVC-Big South Football Association matchup against Tennessee-Martin.

Lindenwood is 2-3 on the season and coming off a rough 38-0 defeat against NCAA FBS Miami of Ohio last week. Before that, the Lions had won two straight, including their OVC-Big South Association opener three weeks ago at Charleston Southern and two weeks ago in the Lindenwood home opener against Stony Brook.

The Lindenwood offense played well in the two wins, but struggled in the loss at Miami. The Lions posted just 146 yards of total offense and made only nine first downs, while Miami put up 472 total yards and had 23 first downs.

It was the first time Lindenwood had been shut out in a game since the program was still an NCAA Division II team and the Lions lost 19-0 to then No. 1 Northwest Missouri State.

UT-Martin will come to town coming off its first win of the season, an impressive 34-10 OVC-Big South victory over Southeast Missouri State. The Skyhawks scored on the first play of the game and never looked back, as the squad outgained the Redhawks by 229 yards while holding them to just 30 rushing yards.

Players to Watch: Lindenwood will be led by QB Nate Glantz, who leads the OVC-Big South in passing with 1,117 yards to go along with five touchdown passes.

Glantz’s top passing targets have been redshirt freshman Rico Bond and redshirt sophomore Drew Krobath. Bond, a St. Louis native who went to East St. Louis High, is tied for second in the OVC-Big South with 25 receptions for 327 yards and he leads the league with four touchdown catches.

Krobath has 18 catches and leads the Lions with 336 receiving yards. His 18.7 yards per catch average is the best in the OVC-Big South.

On defense, Lindenwood is led by LBs Jacob Waller and Sanjay Strickland. Both players rank in the top five in the conference in tackles this season.

Waller is tied for second-most with 44 tackles, including 32 solo stops, while Strickland is fourth with 40 total tackles, including 11 in last week’s game against Miami.

UT-Martin will feature the reigning OVC-Big South Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in QB Jace Bauer and LB Keyshawn Johnson.

Bauer had 332 yards of total offense last week and posted four touchdowns — two rushing and two passing — while Johnson was all over the field for the Skyhawk defense, as he totaled seven tackles, two quarterback sacks, and three quarterback hurries.

WR Bryce Bailey is the conference leader in receptions (28) and receiving yards (399). He averages 14.3 yards per catch and has two touchdowns.

Up Next: The Lions will be on a bye next week, before hosting another huge conference game against preseason league favorite Tennessee Tech on October 18. The Golden Eagles are currently 4-0 and ranked No. 9 in the country.

Kickoff for that game will be 1 p.m., and it will be streamed live on ESPN+.
