FAYETTEVILLE, AR — The University of Missouri football team had two players rush for over 100 yards, three players score rushing touchdowns, and put up more than 300 total rushing yards in a 31-17 victory over Arkansas in the annual “Battle Line Rivalry Game,” Saturday afternoon at Razorback Stadium.
Ahmad Hardy, who earlier in the week was named a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which goes to the nation’s top college running back, made a strong case for the award by rushing for 157 yards on 27 carries.
Hardy also scored a touchdown on an incredible 53-yard run, in which he appeared to be stopped by three defenders, but he somehow broke free and went the distance for a score.
Teammate Jamal Roberts had 100 yards on 11 carries, which included the game’s first touchdown on Missouri’s first drive of the game. Quarterback Beau Pribula added 78 rushing yards and a touchdown of his own, as Mizzou defeated Arkansas for the fourth straight year and eighth time in the teams’ last nine meetings.
“So proud of the team for finding a way to win the game,” Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz said. “Ultimately, that’s what you’ve got to do. Every game has a life of its own. You got to find a way to win it.”

Missouri found its way in the second half, after going into halftime trailing 17-14. The Tiger outscored the Razorbacks 17-0 and outgained them 183 yards to just 73, and forced Arkansas into three three-and-outs in the final two quarters, which each led to a Mizzou score.
The first one came on Mizzou’s first possession of the third quarter, when Hardy took a handoff at his own 47-yard line and appeared to be bottled up by the Arkansas defense. But Hardy refused to go down and broke away from the bevy of Razorback defenders who were near him. Then, once he got loose, Hardy raced all the way to the end zone for a touchdown that gave Missouri a lead it would not relinquish.
The Tigers stopped the Razorbacks again late in the third quarter, then drove 61 yards on 12 plays, which set up a 41-yard field goal by kicker Oliver Robbins that put Mizzou up 23-17.
Mizzou stopped Arkansas again on its next possession, which forced a punt. Senior receiver/return man Kevin Coleman, a native St. Louisan who starred at St. Mary’s High, fielded the punt at his own 33-yard line then faked out several defenders on his way to a 67-yard touchdown, that along with a two-point conversion run by Roberts, put Mizzou ahead by two touchdowns with eight minutes remaining in the game.

The Tigers forced a punt on Arkansas’ next possession, then held the ball the rest of the game to claim another “Battle Line Rivalry” win.
While players running the ball starred for the Missouri offense, several players stood out for the Tiger defense as well.
Linebacker Josiah Trotter had a game-high 10 tackles (seven solo) and a quarterback sack. Defensive tackle Chris McClellan had two sacks. End Damon Wilson had one — his ninth of the season — and a quarterback hurry, and safety Santana Banner had four tackles and two pass breakups.
“We had a great team effort,” Drinkwitz said. “It was a wet field. Real sloppy out there. We had some bad plays, a couple of bad snaps that went against us. But these guys came together and found a way.”
Mizzou finished its regular season with an 8-4 overall record and a 4-4 mark in SEC play. The Tigers will now wait to see which bowl game they’ll get selected to play in.
The official bowl game announcements will come on Sunday, December 7. Most projections have Mizzou going to the Texas Bowl in Houston on December 27 or the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte on January 2.
