MOREHEAD, KY — The Lindenwood University baseball team rallied from a four-run deficit to pick up its fifth straight win, with a 5-4 victory over Morehead State, in an Ohio Valley Conference game, Friday evening at Sonny Allen Field.
Morehead got a run in the first and a three-run home run in the bottom of the second to go ahead 4-0. But Lindenwood rallied with three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to go ahead.
LU pitching held Morehead scoreless over the final seven innings to preserve the win.

Four Lindenwood batters had two hits each, led by fifth-year senior Filip Sarota, who had two doubles, three RBIs, and scored two runs. It was his two-run double that got LU on the board in the fourth and his single-run double that tied the game in the sixth.
Sarota would also score what proved to be the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly by teammate Sam Driscoll later in the sixth.
Will Geary, Jake Radosevich, and Kam Edwards each had two hits as well. Radosevich also scored a run and Edwards scored two, as Lindenwood not only won its fifth straight but improved its record in the month of April to 7-2.
Overall, the Lions have won eight of their last 10.

Starting pitcher Josh Newell had a strong day for LU. It began with a rough start — giving up four runs in the first two innings — but then Newell settled down and held the host Eagles scoreless for his final five innings of work.
For the day, Newell went seven innings and allowed the four runs on 11 hits, with one walk and nine strikeouts to improve his season record to a team-best 6-3. Reliever Easton Rakers pitched the final two innings, with no runs allowed to pick up his third save of the season.
The current winning streak has lifted Lindenwood’s record to 19-18, with a 6-7 mark in the OVC.
The Lions will look to keep rolling with Game 2 of this weekend’s series at Morehead State on Saturday. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
The series will conclude with a meeting at noon on Sunday. That game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
