CLAYTON, MO — The Washington University men’s basketball team will begin its campaign through the 2023-24 season in less than three weeks. It’ll be 18 days to be exact.
That’s when the Bears will take the court as part of the Scholar’s Classic, a season-opening invitational event where some of the country’s best Division III teams will participate. It’ll be hosted by New York University.
WashU will play two games in that event, November 11 against Swarthmore and November 12 against Johns Hopkins, at NYU’s John A. Paulson Center.
Overall, WashU’s regular season schedule will include 25 games — 12 at home, 10 on the road, and three neutral site games.
The home opener will be on November 17, when the Bears host Babson College at 7 p.m. That game will be a part of the 39th Annual Lopata Classic, which will also feature a game between Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Hanover, and third-place and championship games on November 18.
UAA league games will begin in January. WashU will play the University of Chicago in the league opener on January 6.
The Bears will play 14 league games this season, culminating with the regular season finale against Chicago on February 24.
The WashU women will also begin their season at the event at NYU. The Lady Bears will play Johns Hopkins on November 10 and MIT on November 11.
The home opener will be on November 15 against Greenville.
