ST. CHARLES, MO — The Lindenwood University baseball team won their fourth straight Ohio Valley Conference series — all in the month of April — by taking two of three games from the University of Little Rock in a weekend set at the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
The Lions lost in a 2-0 shutout on Friday, but then won twice in a row in exciting fashion, with a 3-2 walkoff win on Saturday and a 3-0 shutout win of their own on Sunday.
Lindenwood, which has now won 10 of its last 11 games and 13 of its last 16, is now 24-19 on the season, with a 10-8 record in conference play.

In the game on Friday, Little Rock ace Brannan Westmoreland (5-1) pitched a nine-inning, complete-game shutout, after holding LU to no runs on just six hits (all singles), with one walk and five strikeouts.
Lindenwood starter Josh Newell (6-4) pitched well also. He went eight innings and gave up just the two runs on eight hits, with no walks and two strikeouts. Unfortunately, Westmoreland was just better and the Trojans won the game.
On Saturday, Little Rock took an early 1-0 lead, but Lindenwood answered with an RBI single from fifth-year senior Filip Sarota in the bottom of the fifth. The Lions then took the lead in the eighth, when freshman Will Geary singled with one out, stole second, then scored on a hit by sophomore William Zareh.
Little Rock put together a rally and tied the game in the ninth without the benefit of a hit. But Lindenwood answered with a bases loaded, walkoff single by Geary to win the game in the bottom of the ninth.
Sunday’s game featured dominant pitching from LU starter Lucas Niemeyer (2-2) and reliever Easton Rakers. Niemeyer went 5 2/3 innings and allowed no runs on five hits to get the win, while Rakers pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings with one hit and one strikeout to get his team-leading fifth save of the season.

The Lions will close out their current homestand with another OVC matchup on Tuesday, April 28, when SIU-Carbondale comes to visit. First pitch at the Lou Brock Sports Complex that evening is set for 5 p.m.
Next weekend, Lindenwood will be on the road — although just a short trip across the Mississippi River — to take on SIU-Edwardsville in a three-game set at the Simmons Baseball Complex. The Lions and Cougars will play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m., with Sunday’s game slated to be streamed live on ESPN+.
