The Ohio Valley Conference announced on Monday that Lindenwood quarterback Cade Brister had been named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week, following his performance in the Lions’ 37-3 victory over Keiser University on Saturday.

Brister, a senior and four-year starter at Lindenwood, accounted for 400 yards of total offense and threw three touchdown passes to lead his team to its first home-opening win since 2017. It was also the Lions’ 100th victory on their home field, Hunter Stadium in St. Charles.

The O’Fallon, Mo., native completed 18-of-32 passes for 377 yards, three touchdown passes, and rushed five times for 23 yards in the win. In the process, Brister set a new Lindenwood record for career touchdown passes (tallying his 71st in the first quarter). His passing scores went for 33, 11 and 78 yards. Brister is now just 181 passing yards away from holding the school record for passing yards in a career.

Overall, Brister has racked up 9,806 yards of total offense, and has been responsible for 93 total touchdowns.

The Lions will be on the road this week, with a game against OVC preseason favorite Tennessee-Martin, before returning home for a game on October 1 against Southeast Missouri State.
