ST. CHARLES, MO — The Saint Louis University baseball team led from start to finish and earned its fourth straight win in a row, when it defeated Lindenwood University, 7-4, Tuesday night in an NCAA non-conference game at Lindenwood’s Lou Brock Sports Complex.
Saint Louis registered 10 hits on the night, including at least one each by all but two of its starters.
Sophomore first baseman Riley Iffrig had two hits, three runs batted in, and two runs scored to lead the Billikens. Junior right fielder Max McGwire also had two hits and an RBI that helped Saint Louis grab an early lead.
Lindenwood tied the score at 2 in the bottom of the third inning on a pair of bases loaded walks. But the Billikens re-took the lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Ian Halverson and a two-run double by Iffrig. SLU never trailed again after that.

Saint Louis built its lead to as much as 7-3 when it added two runs in the ninth on an RBI hit by Iffrig, who later scored himself on a wild pitch.
Lindenwood senior Bryson Arnette smacked his fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth to pull the Lions a run closer. But that was as close as they would get because SLU grad student Chase Minor closed out the game to get his second save of the season.
Junior Carter Kelsey (2-0) pitched three innings and struck out six batters to get the win for the Billikens, while Lindenwood senior Zach Buschschulte (2-3) pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on four hits to take the loss.
Saint Louis is now 29-19 on the season. Lindenwood is 25-24.

Both teams will return to conference play this weekend.
SLU will play a key road series against Rhode Island on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Lindenwood will also hit the road. The Lions will be in Tennessee to play three against Tennessee Tech.
