ST. LOUIS, MO — The 2026 United Football League playoffs will kick off on Sunday, with two games to decide who will play for the league championship in the United Bowl next weekend.
The first game of the day will be the regular season champion Orlando Storm hosting the defending league champ DC Defenders. But the game most people think will be the highlight game of the day, will be the second game, with the St. Louis Battlehawks hosting the Louisville Kings in St. Louis at The Dome at America’s Center.
The two teams met back in Week 6, with St. Louis going down to Louisville to grab a 16-3 win. The Battlehawks controlled play throughout and at one point, forced the Kings to punt on six straight possessions.
Both teams have changed dramatically since then. The Kings might be the hottest team in the UFL, with four straight wins since that loss to St. Louis, while the Battlehawks, who still feature the league’s No. 1 ranked defense, have changed quarterbacks and have shown more firepower since the group that was in Kentucky back on April 30.
“We’ve been working to find our flow on both sides of the ball,” Battlehawks head coach Ricky Proehl said. “We’ve had some good moments, but we haven’t had a complete game like I know we can. So our mission right now is to get out there and get it all done on Sunday.”

Players to Watch: Expect St. Louis to lean heavy on quarterback Luis Perez. Known as “The Spring King”, Perez has thrown for 1,023 yards and four touchdowns in his four starts with the Battlehawks. But he also has six interceptions and was sacked seven times in last week’s loss to Dallas.
St. Louis’ top receiver remains Hakeem Butler, who led the entire league with 641 yards and a 22.1 yards per catch average. Teammates Jahcour Pearson and Steven McBride finished the regular season with 32 and 31 catches, respectively.
The Battlehawks defense is led by free safety Jordan Mosely, who finished the year No. 10 in the league with 55 tackles in nine games, and defensive end Pita Taumoepenu, who was fourth with 6 1/2 quarterback sacks. Teammates Carlos Davis and Demone Harris both had 5 sacks.
Louisville’s defense features UFL sack leader and likely league Defensive Player of the Year, Cam Gill, who set a league record with 10 sacks this season. The Kings are also adept at taking the ball away from offenses, after leading the league with 17 takeaways this year, including 11 interceptions.
Quarterback Chandler Rogers leads the Louisville offense, with 1,119 passing yards and five touchdown passes. Receivers Isaiah Winston and Lucky Johnson have been his primary targets. Winston was eighth in the UFL with 474 receiving yards, while Johnson finished seventh with 32 catches.
Up Next: The winner of Sunday’s contest will advance to play for the UFL championship in the 2026 United Bowl, which will be played Saturday at 2 p.m., at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
