MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO — The Lindenwood University men’s hockey team picked up its first win of the 2026-27 season, with a 9-6 victory over Arizona State, Saturday night at the Centene Community Ice Center.
Seven different players scored goals for the Lions, including two apiece from Brady McIssac and Anselmo Rego, Jake LeBlanc had a goal and an assist, and three other players had two assists each, as Lindenwood matched its highest goal total ever under second-year head coach Keith Fisher.
Lindenwood jumped out to a red-hot start, scoring three goals in the first five minutes of the game. But Arizona State responded by scoring the next four goals to take a 4-3 lead early in the second period.

Lindenwood answered by taking over the final five minutes of the second, by scoring four times, including two by Rego in a 25-second span, which proved to be the game-winners.
The Lions went into the third ahead 7-4, and the Sun Devils tried to rally and scored twice to get back to within 7-6. But Lindenwood notched two empty-net goals in the final 30 seconds to put the game away for good.
Lindenwood, which is now 1-1 on the season, will be back at home next weekend, when it will host a pair of games against Lake Superior State. Game 1 will be on Thursday at the Centene Center. Game 2 will be on Friday.
Both contests will begin at 7 p.m.
