YPSILANTI, MI — The Lindenwood Lions gave up two touchdowns and two field goals in the first half and struggled to move the ball all day, before eventually falling, 29-3, to Eastern Michigan in an NCAA football game, Saturday afternoon at EMU’s Rynearson Stadium.

Lindenwood had 191 total yards for the day, which included just 55 passing yards, and managed just 11 first downs for the entire game. EMU, on the other hand, put up 396 yards and 25 first downs on its way to a dominant win over the visiting Lions.

“We’ve seen and believe this is a team that will fight and scratch to the end, they don’t quit,” Lindenwood head coach Jed Stugart said. “But we keep learning the same lessons the last couple games and that is you can’t continue to make the same mistakes and commit the same penalties and beat teams like that. So, the opportunity is there and I’m confident they’ll make the best of that opportunity.”

EMU quarterback Noah Kim threw two touchdown passes, receiver Benson Prosper caught 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, as the host Eagles scored points on each of their first three drives.

Senior running back Jared Rhodes rushed for 48 yards on 10 carries, and backup quarterback Hoyt Gregory completed eight-of-12 passes for 46 yards and rushed for 38 yards as well, after entering the game midway through the second quarter.

Senior safety Brayon Edwards led the Lions with eight tackles, while fellow senior Will Graham produced the only points of the day for Lindenwood, when he connected on a 44-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Lindenwood (1-3) will take its second bye of the season next weekend, before returning home in two weeks, when it hosts the annual “Backyard Brawl” rivalry game on October 10 against Southeast Missouri State.

Kickoff at Hunter Stadium that day is slated for 1 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
