ST. LOUIS, MO — After enduring a catastrophic third quarter in which it benched its starting quarterback and saw its backup throw interceptions on consecutive passes, the St. Louis Battlehawks scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull off a scintillating 34-30 come-from-behind victory over the Birmingham Stallions, Sunday afternoon at The Dome at America’s Center.
The roller coaster ride of a game began with St. Louis taking the initial lead, when linebacker Jordan Williams intercepted a pass on Birmingham’s second offensive play, then returned it 10 yards for a touchdown.
Then later, after another interception, the Battlehawks drove the ball into Stallions’ territory and set up a 54-yard field goal attempt by former Mizzou kicker Tucker McCann, who made the kick to put St. Louis up 10-0.
The Battlehawks led 13-7 at halftime.
But the third quarter was all Birmingham, as the Stallions scored 16 straight points to take a 23-13 lead. During that run, St. Louis benched quarterback Brandon Silvers, who through the first half had completed just 54 percent of his passes and had a 38.4 quarterback rating, in favor of former Canadian Football Leaguer Harrison Frost, who promptly came into the game and threw an interception, which was returned for a touchdown by Birmingham’s Mario Goodrich.
Then on St. Louis’ next possession, Frost threw another interception, which set the Stallions up for a field goal.

But then the fourth quarter began and so did the Battlehawk comeback.
First, St. Louis drove 55 yards on five plays, ending with a Frost touchdown pass to Steven McBride that made the score 23-20. Birmingham answered with a 50 yard touchdown pass from Matt Corral to Deon Cain that put the Stallions back up by 10, at 30-20.
The Battlehawks answered back just four plays later, when Frost hit Hakeem Butler for a 64-yard touchdown that pulled the home team back to within three points. Butler had a huge day, with four catches for 146 yards and the touchdown.
The St. Louis defense forced a stop and got its offense back the ball. And the Battlehawks drove 75 yards on 12 plays, with Frost hitting tight end Tyler Neville for an 11-yard touchdown with 1:52 to go in the game to give St. Louis back the lead.
It was the third game in a row in which Neville has scored a touchdown for St. Louis.
Birmingham drove the ball to midfield on its final possession, but the Battlehawks forced four straight incompletions to end the drive and clinch the win for the home team.
“I couldn’t be more prouder,” Battlehawks head coach Ricky Proehl said. “We started fast. We talked about that all week and how we wanted to get off to a fast start. That’s kind of been our problem so far. Then, we kind of went into a lull and fell behind. But I couldn’t be more proud of a group of men than these guys for how they fought back today.”

The Battlehawks are now 2-1 on the season and will begin what figures to be the toughest stretch of its season next week, when they will play the first of three straight road games.
First up for St. Louis will be the DC Defenders (2-1), the defending UFL champions, who St. Louis beat 16-10 in the season opener on March 28.
After that, the Battlehawks will go on the road to face the undefeated Orlando Storm (3-0), who are coached by former Battlehawks’ head man, Anthony Becht, and then a meeting with the expansion Louisville Kings (0-3).
St. Louis’ next home game won’t be until May 8, when it will host the Columbus Aviators.

B’hawks gotta throw the ball to Butler more. He’s the best player in the whole league. I don’t know how he only had 4 catches? And then, they have been terrible on 3rd down and almost every time, they’re throwing it to somebody other than Butler. WHY????? THROW BUTLER THE BALL!!!
Boys looked good in the 4th quarter and I love the new quarterback!!!
Silvers was soft! Frost is cool as the other side of the pillow!
We almost left early… What a comeback!
Kaw is the law!!!
Battlehawks are so good and so fun!
I love Harrison Frost! Hakeem Butler too!!
