INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team continued its hot run through the month of April by winning three of four games in a Great Lakes Valley Conference series against the University of Indianapolis.
With the three wins, UMSL is now 12-5 in April and has improved its overall record to 23-18. The Tritons are also 17-7 in the GLVC, which puts the team in a four-way tie for second place in the league standings.

UMSL began the series at UIndy by winning 7-5 in 10 innings on Friday. Freshman Bennett Cagle had a pinch hit, RBI double to drive in the winning run, while junior hurler Dustin Hagens pitched a scoreless 4 2/3 innings in relief to get the win.
Game 2 of the series was a 3-0 UIndy shutout. UMSL was held to just four hits and lefthander Eli Cartwright took the loss, after giving up just two runs on one hit, but walking seven.
Game 3 was a seven-inning shootout, which saw both teams put up several big innings.
UMSL won 9-8, with four players posting at least two hits, including GLVC Player of the Year candidate Mitch Bonczkowski, who blasted his league-leading 18th home run of the season and also had three RBIs.
Cagle also homered in the game — his third of the season — while LJ Randle walked three times, scored three times, and stole three bases.
Sophomore Bryce Nicolay (4-5) gave up a season-high 12 hits and all eight runs to the Greyhounds, but managed to go 6 2/3 innings to get the win.
In the series finale, an UMSL 10-7 win, Randle had three more hits, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Justin Terhaar had a hit and two RBIs, and Justin Simard had two hits.
Hagens got the win in relief again to improve his season record to 3-1.

The Tritons will be back in town with five games next week. They’ll begin with a non-conference matchup against local Division I foe Lindenwood on Wednesday.
That game will be played on Wednesday, April 22, at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Next weekend, UMSL will return to GLVC action with a home series against Lincoln University. The Tritons and Blue Tigers will play one game Friday (2 p.m.), two games on Saturday (12 p.m. and 3 p.m.), and another single game on Sunday (12 p.m.). All of those games will be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network.
