EDWARDSVILLE, IL — University of Missouri senior Cierra Harrison tossed her second career no-hitter in the Tigers’ 8-0, five-inning run-rule victory over SIU-Edwardsville, Wednesday evening at Cougar Field.

Harrison, Missouri’s standout No. 1 starter from Lee’s Summit, went five nearly perfect innings, allowing just two walks, with six strikeouts, improved her personal record to 7-4 this season.

The Tigers are now 16-18 on the season, while SIUE fell to 13-18.

Junior catcher Stefania Abruscato was one of five Mizzou players to have two hits in the game. Her first hit was a two-run homer — her fourth of the season and third in the last four games — in the top of the first, which gave the Tigers a quick lead they never relinquished.

Addy Waits, Sidney Forrester, Sophie Smith, and Madison Uptegrove all had two hits as well. Uptegrove also drove in two runs, while Smith scored two runs.

Mizzou scored five times in the first. Freshman Abby Carr had an RBI hit and Uptegrove drove in her two runs with a line-drive triple. Abruscato drove in another run in the fourth to make the score 6-0.

SIUE committed a couple of errors later that helped Missouri pick up its final two runs.

The story of the game though was Harrison, who dominated the host Cougars from the first pitch. In fact, she only needed 83 pitches to get through the game.

Mizzou will return to Southeastern Conference play this weekend, when it goes on the road for a series against No. 20 Auburn.
