COLUMBIA, MO — The No. 20-ranked University of Missouri football team is all set to host its second home game of the season, Saturday night, when the Tigers will take on Troy University, in a non-conference game at Faurot Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
Missouri is coming off its second straight impressive victory to begin the season. The Tigers dominated the second half and pulled away from archrival Kansas, for a 38-21 victory last Friday night, in the annual “Border War” game at Kansas. Mizzou’s first win was a 54-14 trouncing of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on September 3.
Troy is also coming off a pair of dynamite wins. The Trojans held off Sam Houston State, for a 24-21 win in Week 1. Then, last week, Troy dominated the first half and ran away from Alabama State, for a 34-17 victory.
Mizzou is 3-1 all-time against Troy. In their last meeting in 2019, the Tigers won a romp 42-10.

Players to Watch: The star of Mizzou’s first two games has been quarterback Austin Simmons. The Ole Miss transfer threw four touchdown passes in the season opener, then added 292 yards and another three more touchdowns last week.
Tiger fans are super excited about their new signal-caller and his favorite receiving targets Donovan Olugbode and Cayden Lee.
Many expect though, Mizzou will really look to get its run game going Saturday night against Troy. All-American Ahmad Hardy is still out, recovering from his offseason injury.
That means native St. Louisan and former St. Mary’s High star Jamal Roberts (41 carries, 172 yards, two touchdowns, 4.2 yds/carry) will start again, but might not play long, as the Tigers look to determine who the best choices for the No. 2 and No. 3 running back slots are. So far that’s been transfer Xai’Shaun Edwards and true freshman Preston Hatfield.

On defense, the Tigers are led by linebackers Nicholas Rodriguez (team-high 15 tackles) and Robert Woodyard, who forced key turnovers on back-to-back plays that helped Mizzou take control against Kansas.
Linemen Daeden Hopkins and Donta Simpson both had a sack and a half last week against the Jayhawks.
Troy running back Jaheim Merriweather, a junior from Jackson, Tenn., had 127 yards and three touchdowns for the Trojans last week, while quarterback Goose Crowder threw for three touchdowns in the season opener against Sam Houston State.

Up Next: Mizzou will begin Southeastern Conference play next week, with an interesting matchup and a down south road trip to Mississippi State next week.
The Tigers and Bulldogs will play Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.
