CARBONDALE, IL — The Lindenwood University baseball team got back on the winning track on Tuesday, when it went on the road and defeated Southern Illinois University, 3-1, in a non-conference game at Itchy Jones Stadium.
SIU led for most of the night, after picking up a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning. But Lindenwood rallied late with a run of its own in the top of the seventh to tie the game, then two more in the top of the ninth to win it.
Junior catcher Jake Radosevich provided the big blow of the night, when he launched his team-leading sixth home run of the season over the left-centerfield wall with one out in the ninth to give Lindenwood its first lead of the night.
Grad student senior Kam Edwards added an insurance run, when he singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

After SIU scored its lone run in the second inning, a group of four Lindenwood relievers combined to shut the home team Salukis out for the rest of the night. Freshman Braden Branigin helped get the Lions out of a jam in that second inning and went on the pitch 3 2/3 scoreless innings to keep the game close.
Senior teammates Dillon Haftorson, Luke Wright, and Easton Rakers combined to pitch the final 4 1/3 innings and only gave up a total of four hits and one walk the right of the night.
Rakers (1-2) got the win — his first of the season, to go with two saves — after striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

The Lions will return to Ohio Valley Conference action this weekend, when they’ll host a three-game series against Southeast Missouri State. With everyone getting Sunday off for Easter, the games will be played Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
First pitch on Thursday and Friday at the Lou Brock Sports Complex will be at 5 p.m., with Saturday’s matchup slated for a 1 p.m. start. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
