NORMANDY, MO — After claiming their first ever Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship on Sunday, the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s volleyball team found out on Monday that they had been selected as the host team for NCAA Midwest Regionals, which will be held at the Mark Twain Building, December 4-6.

UMSL has a 26-4 record, has won 19 matches in a row, and not only won the GLVC tournament, but also brought home the league’s regular season title too. The Tritons are no doubt one of the best NCAA Division II women’s volleyball teams in the country.

The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA national Elite Eight quarterfinals on December 11. The national semifinals will be on December 12, and the national championship game will be December 13.

The other teams joining UMSL for the Midwest Regionals include Ohio Dominican, Ferris State, Wayne State, Findlay, Quincy, Rockhurst, and Indianapolis. UMSL’s first match of the regionals will be Thursday, December 4 against No. 8 seed UIndy. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The first match that evening will be No. 6 seed Quincy versus No. 3 Ferris State, followed by No. 2 Ohio Dominican against No. 7 Rockhurst. The UMSL/UIndy match will be the third one of the day, with the finale scheduled to be No. 4 Wayne State taking on No. 5 Findlay.

The winners of the first two matches will face each other in the first semifinal on Friday. The winner of the UMSL/UIndy match will face the winner of Wayne State/Findlay in the other semifinal.

The semifinal winners will meet in the regional championship game on December 6.

UMSL won regionals on the road in 2022 and at home in 2023.

Tritons are tremendous on defense… It’s hard to win a point on them bc they’re always in the right spot… They just wear teams down.
